In 2006 Designarkivet moved to new premises in Pukeberg, Nybro and now has 1300 square meters of floor space with open plan offices, research room, library, three archive rooms and an exhibition hall.
History
Arkiv för Svensk Formgivning was founded in 1978 by the director of Kalmar konstmuseum, Erik Broman. It was set up with the intention of being an archive for Swedish everyday art. The first design sketches that the archive received were designs by the artist and designer Arthur Percy created for Gefle Porslinsfabrik, Karlskrona Porslinsfabrik and Gullaskrufs glass works. The collections today consists of more than 100 000 design sketches within the areas of textile, glass, fashion and industrial design. The archive was moved to new, specially refurbished premises in 2006 and at the same time the name was changed to Designarkivet.
