SEEDBED

Kalmar konstmuseum is pleased to show the work Seedbed by Johanna Gustafsson Fürst. This is a separate work but also a continuation of the work Seedbed 2010, shown at the art fair Market in Stockholm earlier this year. The starting point for this piece is the basic conditions of our existence. According to Gustafsson Füst these conditions are such things as the economy, power and positioning. They are manifested by a combined building/piece of furniture/screen with seats for spectators. Seedbed is referring to a work by Vito Acconi from 1972 with the same name and just as in his work the meanings of the walls and ceilings are being transferred by using these elements in a room where walls and floors are taken for granted.

Johanna Gustafsson Füst (b. 1973) graduated from Kungliga Konsthögskolan in Stockholm in 2003 and her work has since then attracted much attention. Last year she took part in the exhibition Rumstering at Bonniers konsthall. She has also worked as curator for various projects, one being the gallery and art project Ak 28 where she was one of the founding members.
