{"id":495,"date":"2015-12-16T14:21:27","date_gmt":"2015-12-16T14:21:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kalmarkonstmuseum.se\/en\/?page_id=495"},"modified":"2016-02-16T15:51:18","modified_gmt":"2016-02-16T15:51:18","slug":"conference-moving-mass","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kalmarkonstmuseum.se\/en\/conference-moving-mass\/","title":{"rendered":"CONFERENCE: ART AND THE MANIFESTATION OF SOCIAL CHANGE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2013<em> the artist\u2019s role as a knowledge producer and the art institution as host of cross-disciplinary enquiries<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The art project <em>Moving Mass<\/em> deals with the history, present and future of glass production in Sm\u00e5land \u2013 a region popularly referred to as &#8220;The Kingdom of Crystal&#8221; \u2013 from six different artists\u2019 perspective. The emphasis of the project is on questions about the glass industry in relation to changes in local and global society. The conference &#8220;Art and the Manifestation of Social Change&#8221; takes <em>Moving Mass<\/em> as the starting point to create a cross-disciplinary conversation about different methods to visualize our contemporary time and its underlying history.<\/p>\n<p>The conference also addresses the question of what it means for artists, curators and art institutions to work site-specifically. What are the methods to engage in dialogue with a specific context and take that as a starting point for your work? Presentations of the artists participating in <em>Moving Mass<\/em> are alternated with other voices.<\/p>\n<p>The conference is developed by curator Lisa Rosendahl as a commission by Kalmar konstmuseum and the project <em>Moving Mass<\/em>.
