Heather Jones has been appointed Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at Kalmar Konstmuseum and will take up the position on 21 October. She joins the museum from her role as Curator at Kunsthall Stavanger.
– I am thrilled to step into the role of Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at Kalmar Konstmuseum. I am proud to join an institution with a rich history of supporting contemporary artistic practices and engaging with urgent societal questions. As a curator, my aim has always been to connect contemporary art to the realities and experiences of life beyond the museum walls, and I feel privileged to continue this work in Kalmar, says Heather Jones.
Over the past three years, Heather Jones has worked as curator at Kunsthall Stavanger, where she has organised several acclaimed exhibitions featuring artists such as Citra Sasmita, Jumana Manna and Mark Corfield-Moore. She has previously held positions at Independent Curators International in New York and Sigtuna Museum & Art, and is also co-founder and editor of the award-winning art journal CAS – Contemporary Art Stavanger.
– We are proud and delighted to welcome Heather Jones as our new Curator of Exhibitions and Collectiona. Her curatorial insight and international experience will be of great value to the museum. I look forward to continuing to develop our artistic programme together with Heather, says Jonas Holmberg, Director of Kalmar Konstmuseum.
Heather Jones studied fine art and curatorial practice at Truman State University, Michaelis School of Fine Art, Stockholm University and Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design.
